Maintain Your Manicure Like a Pro
Your wraps are fully cured, flexible, and ready for daily life — but a few simple habits will keep them looking flawless for up to 4 weeks. These steps are beginner‑friendly, professional refined, and designed to protect both your manicure and the natural nail underneath.
AVOID HOT WATER + CUTICLE OIL
FOR 4 HOURS AFTER APPLICATION
1. The adhesive is still settling
Semi‑cured gel wraps use a UV‑curable gel adhesives that continues to stabilise after curing. Even though they feel secure immediately, the bond continues to stabilise for several hours.
During this early phase, the adhesive is:
- Conforming to the nail plate
- Firming up at the edges
- Anything that interferes with that process can weaken the seal.
2. Heat softens adhesives
Hot water — showers, baths, washing dishes — introduces heat + moisture, which can:
- Soften the adhesive bond
- Cause micro‑lifting at the edges
- Reduce the longevity of the gel manicure
This is the same principle behind why heat is used during removal: warmth makes adhesives more flexible.
So, avoiding hot water for the first few hours protects the initial bond.
3. Oils act as a barrier
Cuticle oil is fantastic for nail health — but not during the adhesive‑setting window.
Oils can:
- Seep under the free-edge
- Interfere with the wrap’s ability to grip the nail plate
- Cause early lifting
Once the adhesive has fully settled, oils are perfectly safe and beneficial — just not in the first few hours.
“Avoid soaking your hands in hot water for the first 4 hours after application. Keep cuticle oil away from the nail plate during this time — oils can soften the adhesive”
